 Our Staff

Dr. Diane Richter is a down to earth veterinarian. Her clients love her infectious laugh and her casual style. They know that they can always talk to her and that she really cares. She will get right down on the floor with an anxious dog and give them time to feel at ease. She really has a way with cats, too, and many owners are amazed at the times that their cats relax and seem to even enjoy their visits often purring and walking around the exam room to look out the big picture window.

Dr. Diane is a 1991 graduate of the University of Florida. She grew up in New England, having been born in Connecticut. She practices high quality internal medicine and surgery. She has had extensive training in CO2 Laser surgery, as well, a technique that causes less pain and bleeding. She has a special interest in dental care as well, believing that a healthy mouth leads to a healthy body. She takes 80% of her own emergency calls and often stays overnight at the hospital when the patients need that that extra level of one-on-one care. She practiced for years with a certified veterinary acupuncturist, and she learned many eastern medicine exam techniques and incorporates a holistic approach, and herbal and dietary remedies, as a part of her medical practice. She truly enjoys staying on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine.

But Diane's most important asset is her ability to explain things in a way pet owners understand. She really thinks it is important to work with her clients in a “team” approach to making medical decisions. In this day of the internet there is so much information available to educate yourself on your pets health care that it is important to have a vet you feel you can talk to about all the options available to you for patient care. She realizes, too how precious her “fuzzy children” are to her own family, and extends that same level of care to that of her patients.

The Richter family is quite a crew. Diane and Jim have been married for 14 years. Together they have three lovely boys, Nathan, Timmy and Jonny, all under the age of 11! All three boys attend Bradford Elementary School and love to help out at the practice behind the scenes. They especially enjoy wildlife rescue and making the hospital patients feel comfortable with extra tender loving care.

We have several high quality staff members:

Jim Richter is our Hospital Manager. Diane likes to joke that her husband has more degrees than a thermometer. He has a Masters in Business Administration and another Masters in Computer Information Technology. In addition Jim practiced as a Registered Nurse for the last 9 years, the last two in Neurology at Dartmouth Hitchcock. He brings much practice experience to the business, so that Diane can concentrate on veterinary medicine. He also brings a lot of love to the pets. If you ever hear someone making goo-goo noises to cheer up a nervous patient, it is probably Jim.

Samantha Wheeler is a wonderful addition to our staff. Sam graduated with honors from Hopkinton High School. Having grown up in Sutton, she is a local girl who has spent many days waiting tables at the Bradford Junction Restaurant. Since this is a favorite hangout of Dr. Richter and her family, she was anxious to come and be trained as a veterinary technician when she learned that Diane was looking for help at the hospital. She loves her job! Her yellow lab, Marlin, keeps us all laughing, too! But Sam really has the veterinary bug, now. She even spends lots of time watching Animal Planet on her days off to learn more and more. We love her funny sense of humor and the way she seems just like a part of the Richter Family.

Rachel Moseley is another terrific member of our team. Many of you may know Rachel's smiling face from the Lake Sunapee Bank where she used to work in Bradford. She enjoys her marriage to Roy Moseley, and she enjoys being a busy mom like her boss, Diane. But she is also famous for being the mom of many “fuzzy kids”, as she owns 7 border collies, 1 golden retriever, two cats and 1 very spoiled chihuahua. Obviously, she really has a way with animals and we love to hear her stories of how much fun she has as she trains and competes in her fly-ball tournaments with her beautiful dogs!

Please feel free to contact us anytime with questions or comments. We hope the web-links are helpful, too. We want to be a part of the community and help your little fuzzy kids any way we can.
